Radhanath Swami inspires Bhaktivedanta Hospital - Kidney Dialysis Program

Based on an interview with Amol Kulkarni, Deputy Director, Share Your Care Inc., Mumbai, India --

Just 22 years old, with a dream in heart to join the Indian Army, Rohan Chaudhari, had filled the application form and was waiting for further procedures.

Rohan completed his academics up to SSC (grade 10). He works for a cellular phone showroom earning Rs. 3000 per month. He lives in a tiny one room kitchen flat in Nalasopara with his father, mother and younger brother. His father is working in a ready-made cloth store, earning Rs 5000 per month. Mother is a housewife and his brother is studying in 2nd year BMS.

Just 2 months back, Rohan faced dizziness and a very acute joint pain. He went to a local doctor in Nalasopara, where he was given a high dose of antibiotics, due to which his kidney got affected badly. When he went to KEM Hospital for further treatment, they told him that both his kidneys had failed. All his dreams crushed within this minute. After spending 1.5 months in KEM Hospital, his family has now already spent Rs 1.5 lakh on the treatment.

Today he is taking dialysis twice a week at subsidized rates at the Bhaktivedanta Hospital. His mother wants to donate her kidney to her son. But that will require Rs 5 lakhs for the kidney transplant...

Rohan C With 9 Kidney Dialysis machines, Bhaktivedanta Hospital is doing 8500 dialysis every year, at subsidized costs so everyone can afford it, including Rohan Chaudhari. All these subsidies to the lower income people are a direct inspiration from Radhanath Swami!
